FOND DU LAC – Local photographer Casey French and his filmmaker brother Joey have embarked on a 3,000-mile bike journey to raise money for Fond du Lac small businesses and nonprofits.
They left for California June 16 on a self-funded trip to explore the country and enhance their respective skills, all while supporting the Fond du Lac community, according to their GoFundMe page.
Proceeds from the page will go directly to Together FDL, a collaboration of nonprofits aiming to help Fond du Lac, as a community, stay afloat during and after the coronavirus pandemic.
The nonprofits include ASTOP, the Children’s Museum of Fond du Lac, Family Resource Center of Fond du Lac County, Fond du Lac Area Women’s Fund, Fond du Lac Literacy Services, Habitat for Humanity of Fond du Lac County and more.
Casey French has been a travel photographer since 2014 and has since built his portfolio with pictures from South America, North Africa, Central America and Europe, according to his website, caseyfrenchphotography.com.
As of last March, he said, he began using his photography for social good, and this trip is just one of those projects.
In response to concerns about traveling during the pandemic, Casey French assures they will rely on each other and stay socially distant from others during the trip.
