Five Join Children’s Museum Board of Directors

The Fond du Lac Children’s Museum is pleased to announce the addition of five board members: Todd Dannenberg, Steve Jenkins, Jennifer Kebble, Kristin Lenz, and Andrea Westergaard.

Dannenberg is the Director of Design at Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac. Originally from Minneapolis, he earned his BS in Industrial Design from the University Wisconsin, Stout and worked at Kohler Co. for a decade before moving back to Minnesota to start-up the Industrial Design department for Polaris Ind. He’s had lead design roles with Hoover and Maytag as well.

A former volunteer for IDSA (Industrial Designers Society of America) and the American Red Cross, Dannenberg was enthused to lend his efforts to the Children’s Museum as an active board member. “I am incredibly excited about this opportunity,” Dannenberg noted. “As a child, I was incredibly privileged to visit many of the best museums in the world. I feel strongly that these experiences have had an immeasurable impact on my desire to learn and discover through experiences. After learning about the fantastic children’s museum in Fond du Lac, the energetic staff, and the exciting new expanded facility being built in the waterfront district, I wanted to become a board member to leverage my personal and professional experience to add value to such a great organization.”

Jenkins has served as President of the Fond du Lac Economic Development Corporation (FCEDC) since February 2012. He graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a business degree and completed coursework for his master’s degree in urban planning from the same institution. Today, he is a certified economic developer (CEcD) with more than 38 years of economic development experience both as a leader of local economic development organizations and consultant. In addition to serving on the Museum’s board, he is also an active board member of Habitat for Humanity of Fond du Lac County. Prior to joining the Museum’s board, Jenkins served as a board member for: America’s Initiative of Louisiana, Economic Developers Council of Colorado, Western Colorado Economic Alliance, Mesa State College (Colorado) Advisory Council, Colorado Space Council, Easter Seals Capper Foundation (Topeka, Kansas). He has also volunteered for Boy Scouts of America.

“The Children’s Museum is integral to a high quality of life for Fond du Lac County,” Jenkins said. “It provides educational and creative activities for our children that excite, inspire and ignite imaginations for our youngest citizens. That is important to me and the community and I feel honored to be invited to serve on the CMFDL Board.”

Kebble, a popular instructor of the Children’s Museum Music, Museum & Me class, has a background in Human Resources and is an independent representative with Silpada Designs on top of her full-time position as mother of five. An active volunteer in the community, Kebble is a member of Service League of Fond du Lac, has served many roles on the Lakeshore School PTO board including President, and has dedicated time to Salvation Army, Red Cross and her children’s school.

“I have such passion for the museum, its mission, goals, programming and the opportunities for social play that it gives to our community children,” Kebble said. “I was honored and thrilled when asked to join the CMFDL Board. The museum makes Fond du Lac an even better place to raise our children.”

Lenz, a past President of the Museum’s board, is returning to serve as Chair of the Programs/Education committee and assist with the Exhibits Development and Annual Fundraiser committees. She is involved in Service League, MOPS and is a volunteer at St. Mary’s Springs Academy. Lenz and her husband and their four children are greatly looking forward to the Museum’s reopening. “I am honored to be part of the excitement and help the museum with its dedication to preserving childhood, promoting lifelong learning through play and ensuring Fond du Lac is a healthy community,” Lenz said.

Westergaard is a Training and Development Specialist with Mid-States Aluminum Corp. She is a graduate of University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point with a BS in Interpersonal and Organizational Communications. She received her Masters degree in Organizational Leadership and Quality from Marian College. She is certified as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. Westergaard has served on the board of the Young Professionals of Fond du Lac since 2007 and was board President in 2011. She’s excited to join the Museum board. “I love what the Children’s Museum brings to our community,” she said. “I have watched it impact the learning and growth of my own children, and am excited to do my part to help it continue to grow and impact many, many other children and families.”
