Children of all Sensory Capacities welcome to FREE, Special Museum Opening

Posted on: Jan 10th, 2020

Children with sensory sensitivities are invited to join us for a FREE special museum opening. Guests will enjoy exhibits adapted to make the museum more comfortable and enjoyable for children and families on the autism spectrum and/or with sensory processing sensitivities. Families are encouraged to come play in a welcoming environment where their children can try new things while developing their communication, social and motor skills, and self-confidence. A mother who recently attended this event expressed a desire for the museum to continue offering these events. She reflected that “her non-stop child sat for 10 minutes to make his own sensory shaker.” This event is scheduled after hours from 5:30 – 6:30pm on January 15th, February 19th, and March 18th and in April with a special opening for our Easter Event. Registration is limited to promote a quiet, manageable environment; call 920-929-0707 to pre-register. In addition to scheduling frequent events, the museum is proud to welcome sensory sensitive individuals every day, especially with the recent additions of social storybooks, resource kits, and designated quiet spots. This program is made possible to the community through the ongoing support of Grande Cheese.
