The Children’s Museum of Fond du Lac is excited to display another one of Ben Pitchford’s amazing creations, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Sewer Lair-Subway-NYC.” This particular display, which is likely to be quite popular with fans of all ages, uses over 100,000 individual pieces and took over 6 months and a combined 100 hours to build! Ben carefully built this masterpiece from the ground up with the help of his three children, Maxwell, Amelia, and Emmelyn. “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Sewer Lair-Subway-NYC” features LED lights, a motorized train and stands four feet tall, weighing in at over 200 pounds! The Museum will proudly display Pitchford’s creation in the lobby through May 15 when it will leave us and head to Brickworld in Chicago, a convention for Lego enthusiasts from around the world!
“I’m glad that something I created with my kids can be put on display at such a family-friendly place in Fond du Lac,” Pitchford explains, “Our family has a membership at the Museum and we love coming to play and participating in the programs. It’s my pleasure to bring my Lego display here for families to enjoy together. I hope it inspires others to make things and use their imaginations.”
Pitchford will be at the Alliant Energy Foundation’s “Inspired Builders” event at the Children’s Museum of Fond du Lac (75 West Scott Street in Fond du Lac) on May 3th from 4:30 – 5:30 pm. In addition to playing with the Museum’s huge collection of Legos, children and their families are encouraged to ask Pitchford questions about his newest Lego build and discover how to engineer their own creations.
